FURNITURE DESIGN - GATTO TABLE

PROJECT BRIEF

This furniture is designed for kids from 8-10 years old and above. Children area usually really playful and like to run around. With this our furniture has soft corners and is heavy so that the child would not be able to be hurt by the furniture. Our furniture is made out of both plywood. There are gradually more people who choose to move into smaller areas. Bulky furniture like tables and chairs would take up unnecessary floor space, especially when it comes to children furniture. Children today often have a big pile of toys, yet smaller living spaces own limited storage space, which leads to an increase demand in aesthetic multifunctional furniture.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

There are gradually more people who choose to move into smaller areas. Bulky furniture like tables and chairs would take up unnecessary floor space, especially when it comes to children furniture. Children today often have a big pile of toys, yet smaller living spaces own limited storage space, which leads to an increase demand in aesthetic multifunctional furniture.

Children are usually drawn to cute fluffy animals and most house pets are either cats or dogs. Cat is chosen due to its character that I would like all the children who use this furniture set can have. This is namely how sharp cats can be, especially whilst they are hunting for their predators, which require high level of concentration. I hope that all children can be as determined as cats when they chase for their goals, and that they can focus on their studies with my furniture set. I believe that with such design, your children’s creativity can be explored and utilized.
This design takes into many factors into account, which is why I design it to have a multi-purpose nature. It can be used as a study desk, storage purpose and a whiteboard for the children to explore their creativity. The study desk is constructed using plywood for great durability. It is varnished with a volatile organic compounds free paint. This type of paint is odorless, and it does not release any harmful chemicals. Such combination of creativity and safety cannot be more suitable for children.
